Refining The Legend: The All New Sentinel Is Here When Transition introduced the Sentinel back in 2018, it was the longest travel 29er in their lineup, designed to tackle the gnarliest tracks at the highest speeds imaginable. As the folks at Transition’s minds expanded, they pushed further and created the Spire, an even bigger and longer travel model to cap their trail bike lineup. This leaves the Sentinel right in the sweet spot, as they like to call it. A bike that says yes to every trail, every ride, and begs for more. For the all new Sentinel Transition leaned into this idea of THE SWEET SPOT, and looked for ways to make their most popular model the “one bike” for every rider. Refined Tuning The new Sentinel may have a similar silhouette, but Transition fully redesigned the frame with updated industrial design, features, and geometry to turn it up a notch. The leverage curve supports the bike higher in its travel, leaving plenty of room for big hits while keeping it light on its feet to remain nimble, and quick everywhere else. This gives it the lively, sporty attitude felt in the Spur and Smuggler without sacrificing its capabilities in rougher terrain. New size specific chainstays and a 64 degree headtube angle keep riders balanced with great traction on climbs and descents. All of this creates a bike that encourages new riders to push their limits, while ensuring a seasoned pro feels none. You will be ready to Send-it-all. Refined Details As riders themselves, Transition took a step back and looked for ways to improve on the Sentinel. Not just for the sake of change, but for real tangible steps forward that riders will feel and experience. Starting with the most obvious, they added internal frame storage in the downtube of the carbon frame. The B.O.O.M Box (Burritos Or Other Munchies) is positioned below and isolated from the water-bottle cage mount. This allows you to leave your bottle installed in your cage while easily getting into the B.O.O.M. Box, reducing clutter and fuss on the trail. It also prevents noise and potential failure since it doesn't place any weight on the door itself. With an easy access lever and two supplied gear bags, riders can stow away snacks, tools, a tube or anything else they want to have along for the ride. The lower shock mount has a geo-adjust flip chip to accommodate mixed wheels, and features a new design that allows water, dirt and debris to easily wash away. Cable ports on the side of the headtube allow for easy and simple cable routing with customizable routing for mechanical or wireless shifting as well as left or right rear brake routing. The new port stops cables from getting kinked during a crash and holds them tight to prevent rattling. If you aren’t using the port at all, simply cover it with the supplied insert to prevent dirt or water getting inside your frame, as well as keeping a clean aesthetic. These ports help improve the look and quality of the frame, while remaining functional and simple for maintenance. The Sentinel comes with a pre-installed mud guard to protect the main pivot area, improving the bearing life.
