Planting & Care Planting: Before planting your Tecoma shrub, ensure the site selected has enough room for the plant once it reaches maturity, as it’s a fast grower. Choose a location with full sun as the plant is a desert native. At least six hours of sun is preferable, though the plant is shade tolerant. Without enough sun, the shrub produces fewer blooms. Water: Grow your Tecoma in moderately moist, well-draining soil. The plant doesn’t like wet feet and too-moist soil can lead to root rot.
