In most parts of the country, the tap water isn't suitable for brewing coffee and in many cases is too hard causing limescale build-up in kettles and brewing equipment and tainting the flavour of the coffee that you brew. How does the Peak water filter work? Brewing great coffee is much easier with good filtered water. The Peak Water filter works by using a gravity fed bypass that allows you to decide how many of the minerals are filtered and how many remain in the water. If you live in an area with very hard water you might choose to filter out a higher percentage of minerals. A moderate hardness area might be more suited to less filtration. The filter uses two chambers with the main chamber able to filter out almost all minerals. Ideall you want some minerals to pass through. The second bypass chamber contains carbon and this removes unwanted organic compounds but allows positive flavour minerals like magnesium and calcium to pass through. Who is the Peak water filter made for? The Peak Water filter is most effective in areas with moderate to hard water. You can use an online tool to check your water but almost all areas south of Derby and Nottingham require good water filtration. Some areas north do too so it's best to check.
