Anomatheca laxa

Create a real talking point in the garden with this African delight, Anomatheca laxa. Also known as Flowering Grass, this unusual type of freesia is a relatively new introduction to the UK market and therefore rarely seen. But now you can be one of the first to show it off in your own garden! Unlike freesias which generally flower in late summer, these will put on a beautiful show of delicate salmon-pink flowers in early summer. These attractive little blooms sit on incredibly slender but upright stems above neat, sword-like foliage for an elegant, airy look. Despite its origination from warmer climes, like all freesias, Anomatheca laxa will do just fine given a good sunny spot with free-draining soil. It’ll also tolerate temperatures down to -5C, which means it can even survive a mild winter in a sheltered position. Grow it in sunny borders or patio pots and enjoy the show!
