Monarda 'Bee-Pure'

The petals form an intriguing ruffle-like round and each flowerhead is sat comfortably on an equally showy purple pink-tinged calyx. Each individual flower which forms the flowerhead is nectar-rich and pollinators will make frequent visits, this is perhaps why this plant is commonly known as bee balm. That’s not all… the foliage of Monarda 'Bee-Pure' is aromatic – rub the leaves or brush past on a warm day to release the beautiful bergamot scent! Find a position in full sun for Monarda didyma 'Bee-Pure', it will grow happily in most soil types but it’s always best to get a bare root started in a pot with compost first, grow it on for a few months so it can establish a stronger roots system in easy, soft conditions and then plant it out into the garden when it looks ready. Every year, this perennial will grow back bigger and better than the year before, this is because the root system grows over time and produces more flower stems.
