Viewing Stones are admired for the extreme beauty that emanates from their ugly and jagged features. These stones were traditionally taken from places like Taihu Lake in China where they were shaped over decades by the turbulent lake waters forming dramatic pores and holes. They were popular as ornamental objects among royal families and scholars are still used in traditional Daoist Gardens in China today.
